Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry refers to any type of dental work that improves the appearance of the teeth, gums, or bite, but does not necessarily improve the function. Because these procedures focus on appearance, the procedure may not be medically needed or necessary and may not be covered by dental insurance.
Types of Procedures:
Veneers
Veneers are a thin layer of material that is placed above the tooth to improve the appearance of the tooth. In general, veneers are placed in the front teeth to improve a person’s smile. Veneers can be made up of two types of material: composite and porcelain.
Whitening
Dental whitening’s are completed to improve the coloring of teeth. In most cases, the whitening liquid is placed on the teeth and a laser is used to help the liquid penetrate the tooth enamel and remove any stains or discoloring that may be present on all the teeth. After about an hour, the liquid is removed and the teeth will appear several shades whiter.
